I just saw my test score on Quia. What does it mean?!?

Quia cannot grade your essays.

The essays are each worth 1-5 points. I will add these to your score as soon as I am able to read them. If your answers are Clear, Accurate, and Relevant, they will get 3 points, and that puts you on track for a B. Answers that go into greater depth or branch out into related topics can get a 4 or 5, which would put you on track for an A.

Quia grades your "Tricky MC" questions.

The MC questions are designed to be tricky. If you get 4 out of 5, you are on track for an A. Getting 3 out of 5 right puts you on track for a B, and 2 out of 5 puts you on track for a C.

Quia grades your "Monster" question.

The Monster question is worth half of the total test grade. If your Quia score was below 50%, you did not "Tame the Monster". You will have to learn from your mistakes on this question and try it again until you show mastery. The test is incomplete until the Monster is Tamed. I will work out a remediation plan with you soon after the test is completed.

If your score is below 50%, we will put together a remediation plan.

That plan starts with Taming the Monster question. You can look at your results in Quia, and see if you can spot your mistakes! I will work out a plan with you for getting credit and getting your test score completed. Look for the icon shown below:

The test is not a race.

If you did not have time to finish your essays, we can schedule a time for you. We will have to fit this in even as we start a new topic, so it may require you to take time before or after school, or during your lunches or study halls. I will work out a schedule with you in class the day after the test.
